My work in progress shot for the Pin Uprising show at the Highlander. My workflow for this image is a bit different, as I am focusing on a more developed sketch instead of just painting in volumes.  I have also not done a piece with borders in a long time, so I thought I would be fun to try again.   Though  I usually work in colored pencils for those pieces that require more detail, I have found that doing illustrative detail work in oils isn’t as bad as I was expecting.  I think working in a larger size definitely helped with that as well!
