Recently, I have been trying new technique that involves creating a more detailed and defined two tone underpainting. This image was created using Burnt Umber and Titanium White, mixed with glazes of Walnut alkyd oil. Once all of the elements of the image have been added, I am going to apply thin washes of color. I plan on using a very limited palette for this image, with mostly subtle tones. I am hoping that if I keep the layers thin, the detail of the underpainting will not be lost.
